I'm having an uninspired day....I've got no fresh ideas for the kids today. On days like today I have a few fall back activities, which the kids love, but they aren't my best work. I wonder why it is us moms feel that way...any activity our kids do, and have fun while doing it, should be considered our "best work"....but why is it, for some reason we feel the need to go over the top all of the time? For some reason, even if my kids are really happy doing a simple activity, I feel like I didn't try hard enough. I know I'm not alone with this thinking, and I believe as moms, we need to stop. If the day ends up being a simple, yet fun day....pat your self on the shoulder and enjoy the extra breath time allowed for!
Today's activity for us was Play-doh. I think most kids could play for hours, squishing and molding, rolling and cutting...and today I let them, because as long as the kids are happy, and not fighting with each other...they can do the same activity for as long as they want! We practiced cutting it with scissors, rolling it into balls, and just had fun squishing it! I think if I was willing to allow it, the kids would have skipped lunch and nap-time and kept playing with Play-doh, but as we all know, both lunch & nap-time are an important part of survival.
